Automated solution ensures maximum availability at Geberit Produktion AB
Industry: Sanitary products
Company: Geberit Produktion AB
Challenge: Coordinate two separate systems to create a unified, automated production flow offering a better overview.
Solution: A fully automated turnkey solution incorporating AGVs
STILL products: 12 automated EXV iGo, iGo systems and iGo insights
At the heart of Geberit's facility in Bromölla, a new fleet of driverless trucks is in operation. Behind the scenes, a smart automated solution keeps production running smoothly, with systems, trucks and people working together. It all started with the need for better interaction between systems, resulting in a comprehensive solution that provides transparency, operational reliability, and capacity for growth.
The challenge: To coordinate and streamline production
As a leading manufacturer of sanitary systems and bathroom solutions, Geberit demands high standards of production availability and precision. Previously, the factory in Bromölla used two different systems that were not compatible. This made interaction difficult and provided an unclear overview of the production process. In order to fully automate production, a new comprehensive solution was needed to link the entire process, from transport to control.
“We were looking for a supplier who could deliver a complete solution for our automated production,” says Markus Knutsson, project manager at Geberit.
The solution: Increased transparency and operational reliability
STILL delivered a comprehensive solution in which the system, driverless EXV iGo high lift pallet trucks and service work together seamlessly. The iGo system control system automatically handles all incoming transport orders and distributes the assignments to the AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles). It is connected directly to Geberit's production system and adapted for easy and smooth handling via the operators' screens on site.
At the same time, iGo insights collects data around the clock and provides a clear overview of the automated warehouse and its processes. This makes it easier to work preventatively and plan for the long term – all within the same tool. Operational reliability is further enhanced by STILL's service agreement and round-the-clock support, ensuring the facility runs without interruption.
“The combination of technology, expertise and support makes the installation feel both secure and future-proof,” says Knutsson.
The result: More efficient flow and more stable transport
Geberit's truck fleet consists of twelve customised automated high lift pallet trucks. The new holistic solution has created a more stable transport flow, a safer working environment and greater production availability.
“We are very pleased that we have achieved higher availability and a good overall picture, as well as a system that solves all our challenges,” says Knutsson.
The installation from STILL is a solution that will stand the test of time.
